Interviewing for a 2 person team?

Hi I recently did an interview for a Cd position where it seems like there were just 2 people on the team? Sounds like their most junior person quit and most senior person seems to be on his way out for whatever reasons

Anyone work for a team like this and how did it go? Sounds like a good group and chill people but unsure what potential responsibilities would entail. Currently an a2 working in consumer IB in a large group and this role is in the same sector but unclear about the headcount on the team or what the situation was in the group.

Finished super day and it went ok. Have one upcoming interview with the team lead, should there be any important questions that I should be asking? Or any info that would be important for me to learn?

I don't like small teams (though working in a such myself) because often the youngest person is responsible for all admin stuff and other work. I only worked in such teams and in my first role I literally felt like an assisstant to my manager, including reminding him of meetings and clients chasing him lol, and now in a different team I do less admin but high responsibility stuff, even though I'm paid way less compared with my manager and other team members.

You need to understand a few things:
- how is CD organized outside the team? Is it a team of 2-3 that does the scouting, early stage work, then drives negotiation and DD with internal workstreams?
- how many deals a year does the team look at?
- do they use advisers?

I’m in a very small team myself, but we are all very experienced. That means that we tend to run at parallel opportunities, but also a lot of DIY since there is limited leverage.
That being said I work for a very acquisitive company, and outside of CD we have a strong BD origination organisation, as well as diligence & transaction execution teams.
In practice, that means that my team:
- focuses on « true » CD opportunities: large, transformational, simply complex, etc
- whilst very involved in DD, we dont need to coordinate DD ourselves. We have a team that foes that.
- our origination is limited to the large topics. BD focuses on the sea of small opportunities.

The result of this is that we are a highly specialised team that delivers a very specific aspect of the transaction.

You need to understand the environment for that team to make an informed decision.
