Just exited Investment Banking
So, I recently exited investment banking after doing about a year and a half at a MM bank. I am now at a large PE backed portfolio company doing corporate development. I am “working” 40 hours a week, however maybe 20-30 hours of real work. Such a shock coming from IB, not sure what to do with all my free time. Has anybody else had this experience? What do you do with all your new found free time?
How is the comp?
About 100K all in
100k all in meaning base is less than even 100k? Not to be rude, but isn't that a bit below market for someone like you with 1.5 years experience? Is it perhaps in a very LCOL area?
Correct, would say it’s a MCOL city. Think Nashville, Raleigh, or Denver.
Are you working in office or at home?
Primarily remote, but will go into the office maybe 1-2 times a week.
That makes it easier to feel the free time, video games, movies, tv shows, etc. You could always try to branch out and support other functions and gain some exprience across the business if you're interested in moving up/into an operating role. Outside of that, i'd just enjoy the expensive money era while it lasts.
