Most Useful Internships for a Future CFO Career

Hi everyone,

I am currently in the final stages of my bachelor degree in Business at Vienna School of Business and Economics (Austria, Europe). I will finish Jan-2017 with 1.00 (best GPA possible) and will take till Sep-2018 to gain some experience doing multiple internships which brings me to my question:

As my final goal would be becoming CFO of a bigger corporation (>1bn USD turnover) I came up with following internships [I have already interned in Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs in Summer 2015].

Red Bull - Finance McKinsey - Consulting Google - Finance Novartis - Finance

My goal is to gain insights into different industries but mainly with focus on corporate finance (Controlling, ...), while building my CV at the same time.

Are there any internship programs you would rather recommend for corporate finance? More reputable?

Thanks for your input! Cheers, Rob

"corporate finance" is as vague a term as "Financial Analyst". It can range from strategy all the way to pure accounting. Anytime someone tells me they have an interest in "corporate finance" I just assume they don't know what they want to do.

Both CFOs at the companies I've worked in have been accountants by trade. Since they're the ones signing off on all audit reporting and assertions alongside a usually non-accountant CEO, that tends to be important.

Stop over thinking and go for what interests you the most.
