Prepping for MBA FLDP start in september

Hi all;

I was fortunate to gain a spot in a pretty good MBA level FLDP for the fall. I was hoping some of you would be able to point me to some good resources to prepare:

So far I am working on BIWS Financial modeling and excel basics course, but I am also looking for some resources to increase my excel/finance skills for business analysis, different types of analyses in corp fin such as margin analysis, variance, etc. The reason I am looking for all of this is I have no idea where il be placed (could be business unit finance, sales/vendor finance, supply chain, treasury,etc) and i would love to be as prepared as possible. Can anyone recommend any resources that theyve found helpful for corp fin? Thanks

At the MBA level, firms expect that you already have the requisite technical skills to do the job. Yeah, there may be some Excel tips and tricks that will make your life easier, but that's not going to distinguish the awesome performers from the average at this level.

You should rather be focusing on your management acumen--how to communicate effectively and influence people with relationships (rather than role power, which you won't have any of for several more years yet).

I love Manager Tools podcasts for this. In fact, there was one from June 30, 2014 called "Licensee Call HR Question" that applies generally to all support functions (including Finance) that would be an awesome primer to a new person coming into a support role such as Finance. I hear a ton of Finance people at my company talking about being "partners" with the business, and I think the hosts of the podcast nailed why that's a flawed approach. Anyways, if you get something out of that episode, they have several hundred others on various helpful topics... all of which I think will benefit you more than finance technicals.
