So...when does the "fun" start?

if ever, in FP&A?

i've heard such varying job responsibilities from others in this line of work that make me think there must be some interesting/challenging aspects to it.

for instance, i once spoke with someone who worked in FP&A for a major airline. one of his projects was to analyze the size of the apron (where the planes offload) to see how many planes they could fit in a new area of an airport.

ad-hoc requests like that seem really cool - but i have never even sniffed, nor encountered any of my colleagues who have - anything "fun" like that.

our days are filled with requisitions, POs, accruals, budgeting, reporting, landings and Hyperion forecasting. this is totally fine, and i don't mind it at all. it pays OK and the job is mostly 40-50 hours/week.

but i'm curious if this is the more vanilla side of FP&A and if i'm perhaps missing out on a whole other side of it.
