UT Dallas and Finance! Any ideas?

Hey everyone. I will be a Finance major at the University of Texas at Dallas!

I imagine no one has heard of it being rather small and non-targety. Yet the college is known for academic rigor and is smack dab in Dallas, TX. I was curious if anyone had any idea on the ability to land a good corporate finance spot from this school (assuming of course great scores etc).

So my few questions are:

Is it rather (not easy) but reasonable to break into a decent to great corporate finance role from UTD to a Dallas F500 company?

I know that minors do not matter, but what would be best in terms of helping add a pop to my resume:
Global Communication and Leadership (Superficial GLOBAL and COMM oriented)
Accounting (accounting lol)
Statistics (MATH oriented)
Business Intelligence and Analytics (MIS oriented)

My main goal in life or such is to work my way up to a Director or VP role in a decent size corp., if not higher, or a CFO/C-Level job in a small corp.

Also I would LOVE some tips for a Finance Major!!

Thanks ahead of time!

UNT (North Texas) is in Denton. UT Dallas in in Richardson directly north of very central Dallas.

And all it would take is one extra class for an accounting minor so I figure its kind of a given for me to get that ha.

I'm considering the Accounting Minor and Business Intelligence and Analytics minor. I know minors are not game changers and really probably unimportant. I figure if all else fails it could help with a "oh that could be useful for us" kind of response.

I've always wondered about the value of throwing a potential employer a curve ball as a minor, like history or a second language. "Wow, maybe there's more to this kid; he's actually really well rounded" (given you have done your job to secure an impressive gpa/core gpa).

I think the minor needs a certain "flair" to even catch an eye. Like seeing history or literature or math minor. Its not really "eye catching" but I think something like American Colonial History or Business Intelligence and Analytics or such kinda more specific and eye catching minors would maybe warrant a second look.

The same way you look down a minor list of an undergrad school and some just catch your eye vs. a plain broad minor. I know a friend who is majoring in Political Science with two minors in Campaigns and Elections and Folklore and it is always brought up whenever he was interviewing for internships and jobs.
