DCM -> What to do?

Hi everyone, I am a rising sophomore from Canada with the goal of breaking into levfin/DCM in Toronto or NYC. I am currently interning in PC and am interested in the space and had a couple questions regarding it.

Note: All of these questions are for both Canada and the states except for the last one

  1. Are DCM and levfin applications separate from M&A (as in are they a different applicant pool)?
  2. What type of second year role (PC, HF, S&T, etc.) do these shops prefer?
  3. How tense are they on GPA?
  4. Is an exit into PC or a credit HF realistic after 2-4 years?
  5. Which American banks still sponsor considering the current situation?
