Graduating a semester late - return offer

I'm going to be working as a summer analyst in private credit at a large bank this summer. Because I started school a semester late, which was my offer to enroll at a target school, I will probably have to take an extra semester.

If I do end up getting a return offer, will I not be able to sign for it, or will there be wiggle room with HR? Would I have to recruit again after I graduate in December 2028?

That is my ideal situation for sure, already signed up for 8 credits this summer to try and make up for it while doing my internship.

May I ask what you think how the firm would react if I do have to take an extra semester?

On the chance that I wouldn’t be able to finish in time, I wouldn’t want my grades to suffer from back to back 18 credit semesters if I need to recruit again.

Thanks for putting it into perspective for me. I'm definitely more on the side of just grinding it through now, even if I have to do a 20-credit semester and summer classes.

Really appreciate your input.
