Portfolio Management Comp
Hi all -
I'm currently an analyst at a MF private credit firm and thinking of moving to the portfolio management team for slightly better hours. For those of you in this role/similar roles, what are you seeing in terms of all-in comp (base + bonus %) at all levels (analyst, associate, VP, etc.)? Thanks in advance for any insights!
role/shop dependant. some PM groups carry out more operational work, some are more risk/portfolio monitoring, some credit analyst work, some macro and some trader-like. if you're owning the risk of the portfolio I'd expect to work more hours
Depends on whether portfolio management is considered a FO function or a MO at your firm.
Generally speaking, base salaries are the same upto VP level at least whereas bonuses can be 20% to 50% lower vs origination.
I appreciate the feedback. I believe it's considered more of a FO function here with a portion being focused on origination, and the majority of the work being focused on portfolio management/reporting & carrying out the restructuring process when covenants are breached.
