Context: Last week I was lucky enough to have a close mentor refer me to the (MM) firm he works at. My mentor has been at the firm for ~25 years and is SVP level in the IB department.
Situation: I applied for an ER Associate position last week and just heard back this week that I'll be speaking with a Senior Recruiter next week. This caught me a little off guard as I thought I'd be speaking with an analyst or someone on the ER team itself.
Question: Is it common practice to use recruiters to vet candidates before speaking to analysts/associates/directors in the ER interview process?
