Advise needed- taking an IB contract offer over a full time offer for ER
Hi everyone,
I’d really appreciate your advice. I am an intern in a BB equity research covering banks and I got a full-time offer as an associate. But Ive always wanted to pivot to IB and managed to get a contract offer with the chance to convert to a full time offer at a reputable boutique but it’s only 6 months long.
I am really confused on what to do as I will be letting go of a full time offer especially in these uncertain times where it takes a bit longer to find a job.
Please help!
First of all, congrats on both offers! I work in SS ER, so I'll try to put the bias aside for a sec, but I'd vote take the FT ER offer. Especially covering Banks, you have strong odds for an internal lateral to your bank's FIG group if you stay around for ~1yr.
IMHO, BB rep as ER associate has more weight than boutique IB contract, but tough to know without more specifics.
