Anyone Here in Oil & Gas Research?

I'm very interested in talking to someone in this field. As someone who's looking to lateral into a more analytical role within the next 8 months I want to find out as much as possible before I start to seriously pursue a move.

rjroberts1I work in Oil & Gas research, whats up?

What research do you do, what are you sources? future of oil and gas? What does a typical day look like?

Interested as well. For someone who is out of the industry what sources would you reccomend reading up on to become familar with O&G. I follow companies (CHK,EOG,SD) and listen to / read their earnings calls which I feel like gives me a good overview of the industry / shale plays / what is going on, but where could I find some more indepth learning materials? I've read a couple of articles on Investopedia which were insightful - talking about how CF per share is more important that EPS for a lot of E&P companies. I also read a couple of research reports from TPH that were helpful.

Are there any reports that are publicly available anyone would reccomend? I also have access to a large brokerge house through an account I have which I have used to get analysts reports on companies, any industry specific newsletters, etc. I could access through that source?

Thanks

Yeah, I was thinking coming from energy but I'm not coming from an engineering background. I've been looking at every company's undergrad training programs like BP's IST but haven't been really successful so far. Would I be completely doomed in some generic "financial analyst" position where I would gain exposure to what would be valuable for ER but isn't as FO/prestigeous? Probably a dumb question and me overthinking things but bleh.
