Is not having the proper exams yet a big issue when applying for an ER positions? I am attempting to switch careers to ER from academia (still in mid-twenties), so I never had the opportunity to take the Series 86/87. Will this keep me from getting hired, even if I can do the modeling, etc. that is expected?

I was hired without having series licenses. It wasn't a big deal.
All else equal, they'd obviously rather take a person with the licenses than without.
