Ive been approached by a couple of firms for my thoughts on a PE backed firm in my industry (healthcare). The companies are evaluating investment possibilities into this firm or similar ones. They asked me via the intermediary agency to name a $ amount/hr. This is not in my daily experience and so im wondering what going rates are for research. They estimate an hour or 2 initially. That maybe all or there maybe more. Im assuming the firms are investing significant amounts so im inclined to ask for a lot. Thx.

I assume you’re an executive and not in equity research. It depends on your level of expertise. I think something in the $300-800 range would be standard. Something more and you have to start justifying the spend.
