Bernstein

Hey all,

I’m new to the world of ER (pivoting away from IB) and am very curious about Bernstein.

Seems like a nice place and would love to learn more about it, if anyone’s got any info that would be super useful and appreciated!

AB was historically one of the top research firms outside of the top bulge brackets (kinda like the OG Wolfe research). I think they are still really good brand wise but don't really know where they rank anymore, probably top 10-15? Not sure if anyone has told this but analyst personality is much much more important than firm. You could have an II ranked hall of famer but works at like Stifel (no shade to them). If you are looking for that "brand" recognition for your resume, AB is good but I'd shoot for a Wolfe or any bulge bracket. But be warned that analysts dictate our lives here.

Absolutely not. Wolfe has a better rank but it is by no means a better shop than Bernstein in respects to pay / prestige. Wolfe’s model is to overstaff teams with juniors from super non target backgrounds with the expectation that they are an associate for life or move on from Wolfe. Alliance pays significantly more and is more selective with who they hire. People on the Buyside know this too
