Hey everyone,
Hoping to get some honest opinions here. I could potentially get an IB offer in the next few weeks, but think I would rather be in equity research. The problem is that ER hiring seems to occur mostly after the New Year, not really allowing you to weigh the two options.
I'm 23, doing a top-5 MSF right out of undergrad, have passed CFA Level 1 (taking level 2 in June 2016), and I am currently interning part-time at a sell-side research shop.
My question is: If an IB offer comes along, am I better off just taking it, or would I have a decent shot at an ER associate position if I wait a few months? Within ER, I'm targeting NYC and Chicago with focus on middle markets. Thanks for any and all help.
