Correcting errors in published research
Here's a bit of a grey area which I was hoping someone can shed some light on. In terms of errors in published research, are there any government regulations around the process of amending the report? For example, I know research firms will generally issue an erratum if there is a serious mistake in their published research to correct the mistake. However, what happens when it's just a tiny error? Just curious if there is some sort of regulatory framework for such a thing, I'd be curious if anyone knows anything. Thanks!
Depends on the error. Something like an immaterial typo on page 2/3 is probably just going to be ignored. Generally publishing does not like to re-issue research. This is changing a bit as research reports are no longer distributed as attachments but are now accessed/downloaded through an email link. In many cases the change can now be made before most of the buy-side even opens the piece.
