Did I make the right move?
Hi All,
After spending almost 7yrs in the financial services sector (since the start of my career), I have recently joined a high street bank in their equity research team.
It feels like a whole new world, and I don't feel too bullish at the moment. Im supporting the equity strategy product as an associate at the moment and I can only do much considering im still taking exams to become a "certified" analyst.
I was in a front office role at my previous company (product consultant) and quite independent but I just feel like a glorified personal assistant at the moment (data request, mock charts etc.). I won't be covering stocks since I am in the equity strategy team.
To be honest, the strategy stuff also seems quite hard to get my head wrapped around right now, but I think I can make up on the knowledge bit in a few months.
Is this something you eventually get used to? I just feel its harder to absorb the environment since I made a mid-career move. I got a decent bump in base but ofc I have to work more hours as well.
Any thoughts, advice or comments would be much appreciated.
ER has a 1 year learning curve.
Thanks for the comment! I was expecting 3-6 months but wow, okay.
