Equity Research Internship for Sophomore Summer?
I’m a rising sophomore interested in eventually working at a hedge fund. I’m starting to think about what kind of experience would set me up best going into junior year recruiting. I have a call coming up with a senior ER person at a BB, and I want to make sure I’m thinking clearly about what’s realistic and where to focus. I know that trying to land something at a smaller fund is one option for next summer, but I’m also curious about the equity research path, especially as a way to improve my modeling, industry analysis, and pitch writing. I’d ideally like to find something paid, so that’s part of the equation too. It feels like everything is moving earlier each year, and it seems like having something lined up sophomore summer is becoming necessary before junior year recruiting even begins. Just wondering what’s realistic to pursue as a rising sophomore, and if anyone has tips on how to approach this upcoming call or how to frame my interest effectively.
