ER Exits

Currently working as a ER associate at a Toronto based broker dealer. My coverage is technically designated as diversified but this is my split -> 11 Cannabis, 3 construction, 1 minerals. I've just started in my role after graduating school. I know it's early but I want to think strategically about how to best position myself for a buyside exit. Is the buyside realistic coming from a mid-size broker dealer? Is the fact that I'm mainly covering cannabis going to make it unlikely? Would it make more sense to look to exit to one of the big banks first. Looking for all the help I can get. Thanks!
