ER internship vs Mutual Fund internship
I am having an interview with a financial planning firm (they have over 10,000 financial advisors) for the ER/Mutual fund summer internship position. They do not trade their own money so all their ERs are sell side and their mutual fund analysts are just like monitors/interviewers of the mutual funds for their clients. Currently, the equity research division has the same size as the mutual research division but the mutual fund part is growing faster than the latter one. Thus, i am wondering 1. if i become a mutual fund analyst, what is the chance i can get a job at a mutual fund company in the future since this company does not have the fund for me to manage? 2. if i become an equity analyst for this company, what the best exit opportunity could be? And what should i do if i start my career at this firm as an ER? 3. How many equity analysts or mutual fund analysts does a typical BB have on average? 4. If you guys in my shoes right now, which one would you choose? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!!
I feel like ER would be the better choice. But it's up to you and it is very hard to decide based on the info you've given us
