ER vs S&T vs IB

After my NY S&T internship next summer, ive been thinking I might want to rerecruit for either equity research or IB. I’m familiar with the culture / hours / pay at the different banks for IB, but what about for ER? I know it’s lower comp, better hours, etc, but is the work typically more interesting? For reference I go to a target school but chose to pursue finance last second (a switch from my heavy STEM degree), and therefore went with S&T before fully considering my other options.
