Evercore ISI Culture/Vibes
Exploring a role in ER at ISI. Can any monkeys share what the culture is like - % in office, typical hours/weekend expectations, management exposure, anything else to know? Would be coming from relatively sweaty team (~70 hours/week as a baseline and work basically every Sunday), don't need a huge upgrade there just don't want to be getting much worse. Thanks.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, Evercore's culture has been a topic of discussion, particularly with some recent shifts. A close source mentioned that Evercore has seen some non-collegiate senior hires chasing deals for bonuses, which has impacted the vibe for some. However, specific details about Evercore ISI's Equity Research (ER) team aren't explicitly outlined in the dataset.
For general expectations: - Hours: While Evercore's culture in certain divisions has been described as intense, the specifics for ISI ER aren't detailed. If you're coming from a 70-hour/week baseline, it's worth clarifying directly with the team to ensure it aligns with your expectations. - Management Exposure: Evercore is known for its prestige and high-caliber professionals, so you can expect exposure to experienced management, though this may vary by team. - In-office vs. Hybrid: Some teams at Evercore have adopted unofficial hybrid policies, with employees typically in the office 2-3 days a week. This could vary for ISI ER, so it's worth confirming.
If you're looking for a slight improvement in work-life balance, it might be worth exploring further with current or former team members to get a clearer picture of the specific dynamics within ISI ER.

ER is a franchise business. Each senior covering analyst runs their own show however they’d like, so your experience “at Evercore” cannot be generalized at all. Most of ER does not handle much weekend work, save for some Sunday evenings here or there during earnings season. That doesn’t mean your analyst won’t be some raging lunatic who likes giving out Monday deadlines and weekend projects. Overall if you’re coming from IBD, the schedule is more predictable and deliverable cadence is better as well. To what extent, though, will be highly variable
Edit; oops you are coming from ER so you already knew this nvm lol
Hey I appreciate the write up haha. Totally agree with the franchise point - but feel like there can still be some observations across a department.
