Follow ups at boutiques - What would you do?

Had an informational interview at a boutique last week with the head of the boutiques trading desk and after getting to know one and other a little better he told me that it would probably be best if i started out in research in order to learn more about equities.

Anyways long story short, he said that there may be a position for me in the research department, follow up in a few days.

So a few days have gone by, been "attempting" to follow up today by calling him several times; however, I can;t get through to him only his assistant.

Should i fire off an e-mail at this point or keep calling tomorrow?

Advice is really appreciated on this one mates !

Just send him an email reminding him he asked you to follow up but don't be pushy or annoying about it
