From Biomedical Sciences PhD to Equity Research

I am a current graduate student at a top tier university. I recently became interested in the public market particularly biotechnology and pharma investing. I started a small portfolio and began following companies this space but also importantly, develop my own criteria for investing. I am now looking at Equity Research as a potential career path after graduate school. I was wondering if there is someone here who has made the transition from academia into Equity Research.
