Global Macro Research

Currently a sophomore in college at UMich/UVA looking to do something global macro related. I am looking for some insight into the similarities and differences between ER and Global Macro Research in their recruiting differences (selectivity, timeline, preparation, etc) and any other info that might be helpful for a college student trying to land an internship. Any insight is much appreciated.
