How to adjust figures for stock splits?
How do I adjust prices for stock splits when looking at historical data? Are they typically already adjusted by common sites like Google Finance? Along the same lines will historical EPS be adjusted? I looked around on the internet for these answers but couldn't find any clear response as to how to account for these in a stock pitch. Thanks for any help you can give!
They adjust automatically. Whole Foods Market used to trade at around $100 and then they 2 for 1 split roughly one year ago. If you pull up the charts from a year ago they will all have the price adjusted for the stock split meaning you'll see $50 instead of the $100.
Thank you Richmondkey. And by that same token EPS will be adjusted as well?
EPS should be as well. Just be careful when looking at older SEC Filings if you plan on building a model.
