How to do an accurate earning forecasting?

Hi all, I am newbie here, and I am working as an research analyst in a buy-side firm.

Recently, my boss told me to do earning forecast and need accurate result. While this is no taught in the book, i am wondering how to make it accurate, and the boss said if i make three error in forecast, i will be fired. that makes me worry, so i need you guys help.
