How to impress a boss who's never there?

So my MD is almost always travelling. I like to think I do a good job, take initiative etc but my MD is so trusting of me, and so hands off, that he rarely looks at my work etc.

In past, I've always made great impression's on my bosses but it's almost impossible now. Can anyone share some advice?

in same boat...working in PE...except in my take periods of being invisible( in our group if you do bad it doesnt take long for shit to flow downhill) followed by occasional burst of impressive work( my standard for is it going out of way once in a while to deliver an extra value add) will always do good.

nd another thing i have noticed is rather than trying to "impress people" if you really put in work and "impress yourself" with your thought process, work ethic it takes no time for your confident air and your knowledge to impress people around you automatically including your MD who might be halfway around the world in his private jet watching spongebob square pants..
