Job Outlook For Fall?

Hey all,

I am interested in pursuing Equity Research for FT opportunities. I am networking and have been given advice to pursue roles in the late fall/winter, however, I am nervous about the economic standing and what that will mean for ER opportunities come that time.

Do you think that a potential second wave will limit open spots/potentially lead to hiring freezes?

Are you an undergrad? Do you have ER experience? Under normal circumstances, it’s incredibly difficult to recruit for ER FT without having ER experience at a comparable bank. I’d say it’s now close to impossible. I know my BB and few others have external hiring freezes for the foreseeable future.

Yeah its going to be hard as shit, not an ER specific thing but in general banks will start laying people off not hiring into 2021. With the shitty jobs market people are more likely to stay in their research seat so there will be less open spots.

Nothing about that is inside your control though, just going to really make sure you're ready if you get the call bc spots will be more limited
