Layoffs at GS

Heard GS did a sizable cut in research last week. Can anyone confirm? Any other depts with above normal reductions so far (minus the obvious CS/DB)?

“Markus was incredibly helpful with the CV review, he started off looking at my CV and gave me a detailed list of questions, really trying to understand the candidate before making the CV. He made all the refinements himself and never took more than 24 hours in between correspondence. He also gave me a detailed list of all actions he had taken and why to help explain his reasoning before I could even pushback, which made the process convenient. Overall had an incredibly positive and pleasant time.”

“He was great and gave me very useful advice about building a finance-focused project. He suggested using Bloomberg data and exploring many different variables, such as prices, trading volume, interest rates, market confidence, and other financial indicators. I especially liked that he connected the project to practical finance applications. This could help me build a stronger resume, gain experience with real financial data, and understand how data science is actually used to find signals and make investment decisions. His advice also helped me see how I could turn a class project into something useful for finance, quantitative research, and future career opportunities.”

Work in research for GS (ignore title) but not equities. I know of a couple people who got axed last week, but not huge cuts by any means. Anyone know if research is done for this cycle? I'm sweating a bit over here with all the rumors about layoffs this week haha.
