Life sciences + market access background to ER

I’m a PharmD with 2 yoe in market access and am currently in an expert network firm helping hedge funds conduct their due diligence in healthcare. I’m looking to pivot to equity research since I understand the healthcare market & love the deep dives but need some solid leeway into ER. Is MBA a good route to take? Would the expert network experience be taken into consideration for post-MBA opps? Or are the probabilities really low to even consider this option?

MBA is an expensive way to do it. You are an expert (I assume) so having expert network experience doesn't matter cuz you just share your expertise with hedge fund clients.

You need to show ability to connect your drug expertise with stock analysis and pitch yourself to sell-side analysts. That's more cost effective way to go about it, that's what you will do during MBA too - very few banks explicitly recruit MBA research interns so you need to network on your own to develop more shots on goal.

Thanks! When I said expert network firm, I meant I am on their research vertical that connects experts with financial advisory firms and guides research indirectly. Would this help in my goal?
