Making recommendation in interview against analyst position
I have an interview coming up where I will likely have to make a stock pitch. I want to make a recommendation against our team’s official position but not sure where exactly compliance comes into all this. Is this fine since it’s an interview and not a client call on official business?
Just find a different pitch man… millions of stocks in the market.
No analyst wants their associate to openly go against their recommendation. If you do that to your current analyst, your interviewer will conclude (probably correctly) that you will do that to them too.
Small chance you know more about the company than the Analyst. Be very careful. This can easily backfire.
Not recommended, some analysts do not tolerate any comments/opinions that are different from their own.
Never ever ever ever EVER do this. I covered Meta for my school's investment fund, analyst who covered Meta grilled me on this in an interview. I was bearish and they were bullish and it did not go well at allllll.
