For modeling you should understand how a working three statement model connects and functions. For revenue builds, that will depend on your coverage and analyst and can range from pretty simple to very complicated. The better/faster you are at excel the better, but you can learn a lot of that on the job.
Valuation also depends but you should be able to walk through a DCF and build a good comp table.
CFA is not necessary, many analysts don’t have it.
For the DCF, is that still as common as before? I've seen more and more reports just skipping a DCF and using a multiple to value a company
