My senior told me to jump off a building
I recommended to fully exit a stock the day before because of some lasting political overhangs, and the next day it was up by 10% (industry wide lift, no specific company news). We would still have booked a 10% gain even if we had fully exited the day before.
My senior was like, “well luckily I didn’t listen to you and sold or else we would have missed out on the 10% gain. If I were you I’d go jump off a building man.”
Fuck that shit lol, he bought a tech co. at almost the peak and now we’re still sitting on a 22% loss on that name. Congrats big guy.

Based on the WSO threads, it's crucial to handle such stressful and inappropriate comments professionally. Here’s what you need to know:
Professional Response: It's important to remain professional, even when faced with unprofessional behavior. Address the issue directly with your senior if you feel comfortable, explaining that such comments are not constructive or appropriate.
Seek Support: If the behavior continues or you feel uncomfortable addressing it directly, consider discussing the situation with HR or another trusted mentor within the company. They can provide guidance and intervene if necessary.
Reflect on the Feedback: While the comment was inappropriate, use this as an opportunity to reflect on the decision-making process. Analyze the trade to understand the dynamics better and discuss these insights with your senior to demonstrate your analytical thinking and commitment to improving.
Maintain Perspective: Remember that investment decisions can always be seen in hindsight. Focus on learning from each experience to enhance your decision-making skills in the future.
Emotional Resilience: Develop strategies to manage stress and maintain your well-being in a high-pressure environment. This might include discussing your experiences with peers, seeking mentorship, or even professional counseling.
Handling such situations with professionalism and seeking to learn from them can ultimately strengthen your position and reputation within the firm.
