New ER Associate - Any advice?

Hi all,

I just signed on as a new ER associate. I was previously working in accounting, and made the switch after a few months of interviewing. Any advice for making the transition easier? I understand this will be a faster pace environment than my previous job, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Congrats on the new role. First thing to learn is that you will be largely useless your first ~6 months so the biggest piece of advice is to be engaged, and have a good attitude because you'll be taking over low level tasks (sending dial-ins, data dumps etc...). Produce error free work and you'll continue to get more "core" and interesting work to the team.

Before you begin the job, ask the team to send a primer or something on the industry to learn some of the jargon, companies, arguments etc.. in the sector.
