Phonecall with head of an equity department tomorrow, what to expect?

Have a phonecall tomorrow with a head of a research department at a boutique, could say it may be an informal interview, none the less i've never had an interview for research period. Don't really know what kind of questions I should expect.... Any input on this would be appreciated gents!

Have a short and long pick ready with justifications, have a particular industry that you want to be long or short and why, be prepared to send him a writing sample too, just in case he asks. I had to submit a writing sample for an ER job so it may or may not happen.

If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses - Henry Ford

Might ask you some macro questions, where do you think the action is? Why? Most importantly be prepared to back up everything you say because he will dig deeper with a "why do you think that is" when you tell him "X industry" or "X region" should be hot going forward. Have examples and then be able to go pretty deep on those subjects. I think Illini's responses pretty much covered everything else.

Also he might catch you off guard when you tell him, for example, "I think Brazil has a bright future" and then he immediately responds with, "Ok, well if I gave you 20 million dollars to invest in Brazil, what would you do with that money?" Be ready for stuff like that, be well versed in anything you put out there.
