Product Management to ER after 1-yr post MBA

About me: Finished MBA at a top-10 school in May 2018. Worked as a Product Manager in Tech (think Uber, Amazon) before MBA and went to business school planning to switch to Management Consulting after. Discovered during b-school consulting won't scratch my itch, and fell in LOVE with ER and security analysis. I did so well in ER coursework that my professor (who had killed it in ER in his previous life) encouraged me to pursue it after MBA.

Situation: Make the stupid mistake of going back to tech because my current company offered a lot of money to basically do what I was doing before b-school. Don't really have a reason why I didn't pursue ER- it was just a terrible fumble.

Options: I am willing to work on sharpening my valuation skills, and add a few research reports to my portfolio during evenings and weekends.

Is there hope if I want to switch to ER 1-yr post-MBA with no prior work in finance? Should I be working my MBA alum network? Should I get my CFA L1/2 before I network?
