Research Associate Analyst vs Research Associate

Hi, recently heard of some IBs using this title on top of the usual Research Associate, just wondering if there is any significance in this or is it just a inbetween from Associate to Analyst?

inside the bank, an entry level Analyst and Associate are similar in an ER department.. outside the bank, they are all known as "associates"... there is only one "Analyst" per sector and that is the lead analyst on the team (usually a managing director). People usually get created with these titles to embelish their linkedin titles.

.

Some of the banks and even buy side firms do this to denote somebody between an associate (entry level) and analyst (generally post MBA).

Ding ding ding. It's a feel-good measure the firms give out. I also had several colleagues do it when I was an associate to impress MBA admissions committees, even though it was absolutely meaningless.
