I'm interested in hearing from PM's and AM types on this board on what third party rankings do you consider to be most relevant and bearing on to choosing which ER analyst to listen too. I know in the past that II rankings were King but ever since the Chinese wall the focus has been towards the Greenwich Survey as the business now has catered towards mostly hedge funds.
Also how do you decide on what firms are you going to execute your trades with? How much does the strength of the firm's research department play in? Some of my friends have been saying that you are entering a dying industry but I have also been hearing that given the sustained volatility in the market that research will have resurgence.
