I interviewed with Baird FT a few months ago.

Their entry level Fulltimers are not well paid on an absolute basis. Think ~60K all in first year.

I think a big part of that is location (i,e, Milwaukee).

Baird pays their SA's at a pro-rated scale of like 70% of the entry level FT salary. Part of it is the living expenses in Milwaukee, and I'm sure part of it is lack of competition in the Midwest. For those with offers with BB in New York, I doubt Baird will win any competition based on solely money. Their culture and reputation would have to win over the candidates, so I'm sure that goes into their thought process.
