Salesperson / ER Analyst Roles
I'm trying to better understand the roles of salespeople and research analysts.
I've heard that salespeople in S&T division of a bank produce research reports that they give to clients to try and get their orders for commissions. Do they actually write these reports or are do they receive it from the people in equity research?
Which job would be better if one wanted to develop relationships with buy-side clients? And if Salespeople's bonus is based on the amount of commission they generated, how are ER analysts compensated if they are the ones producing the research reports?
