Small Buyside Firm to BB?

How does the ER industry view smaller / niche / less known ER shops? Say if someone to do a SA gig at one of the aforementioned and would like to pivot to a BB? Is there any advantage to staying at the smaller place?

With regards to switching, it's my understanding that in something like IBD it's way harder to break into a BB from a small place, but was wondering if the same standard remains for ER.

Cheers.
