How is S&P (and the likes) experience valued in ER circles? How are the exit ops from a research role at S&P to ER?

S&P is a good place to get started, if you aren't able to get your foot in the door another route. It most likely won't be a hindrance to your resume in the long run, and should offer good opportunities after an extended period (2-5 years) of experience and industry specialization is gained.
