Still easy to move from SS ER to BS ER?

I’ve been hearing that it is not such an easy transition from SS ER to LO AM anymore. It seems like most people who end up on the buyside after working in SS ER go to HF with a bigger focus on short-term time horizons.

Is the SS ER to LO ER path still doable/common?
