Student Equity Management
I am a member of a student equity investment group for my college. We have a concentrated equity portfolio valued at just over $3 million. Essentially the group, which has about 30 members conducts our own equity research (complete with both industry specific and idiosyncratic thesis catalysts and risks and a price target), presents it to the rest of the group where we are encouraged to ask questions and voice concerns, and an executive board of five other students within the group makes an investment decision regarding the company. As inexperienced students conducting original equity research, I wanted to get some input on how to maximize our exposure to high quality ideas and investment decisions and hear some personal testimonies on similar student orgs from fellow monkeys. All thoughts and questions are welcome.
