The Credit Industry

I'm hoping someone on here can tell us about credit. What is the typical path of someone in credit? Like is a "credit analyst" role equivalent to an "investment banking analyst" role? Are you able to exit to a distressed fund following this role? How does compensation differ? What about W/L balance? Is it less competitive? When are recruiting timelines usually? Why is there no credit forum on WSO?
