Timed Writing Interview Advice
Hello Everyone,
I have a timed 2-hour writing interview for ER at a BB and was wondering if anyone has gone through something similar or had any advice.
The format is they will give you a company press release related to quarterly earnings and then you are supposed to write an research note off of that.
Looking at research reports it seems that it is important to iterate how things differed from consensus and your previous views and how your views have changed. But I wont know what consensus was or have any idea of narratives.
In the invitation they specify they do not want a recap as that isn't what analysts are paid for clients want insight. But I am struggling with what sort of things I should look for in the press release. Anyone have advice on this?
If you dont have consensus to compare the quarterly numbers to then just do quarter-over-quarter comparisons.
The important things that they will want you to write about, and what makes it different to just a recap, is any new information provided by the release. Especially guidance.
