Valuing an NFL player
This isn't a spam post, I promise.
Just came across this site called Fantex. You can literally invest in an athlete's brand income, so essentially a royalty. I just thought it was an odd, but interesting idea. I haven't dug into the financials or other information - and don't plan to - but I couldn't help but think oh how you would value a player. If you click on Alshon Jeffery (they also have Kendall Wright, Jack Mewhort, Michael Brockers, Mohamed Sanu, EJ Manuel, Vernon Davis and Arian Foster), it estimates he has 8 years left in his career...I could be wrong, but that seems optimistic given how quickly some athletes churn anymore.
Anyways, just a boring day working from home and thought I'd share.
Don't invest in this. I recall reading that in their disclaimer, they say your shares can be revoked or otherwise rendered worthless at the discretion of the company.
Wasn't planning to, but thanks for the disclosure. I just thought it was an interesting concept
I get what they were trying to do here, but football is too high risk. At any given moment, someone's career could end. They also didn't choose the right players.
