You get yelled by your analyst?
I got that a few times a week particularly when he is under huge pressure or in a bad mood, that sucks. I even heard he made his previous associate cry couple times.
How about you guys?

Career Resources
-Disregard-
The seniority required to fire someone within a bank GREATLY exceeds the associate level. It takes an effort for a director to get someone fired, and they can't do it directly--they have to go through HR. And even then, yelling at someone isn't sufficient cause for termination. It's a lot harder to fire someone than you might think within most large companies.
The titles are flipped in ER.
^^ This. Think of the analyst as the MD.
To OP's question. Thankfully this has not happened to me, my analyst and I have a pretty solid working relationship. Does he do it when you make a mistake? Not justifying his actions, but tensions run high during earnings season, especially if there's a slip up in the normal process.
I'm paranoid about making even the slightest mistake and keep a running list of past slip-ups and write out how to prevent it in the future. It's actually gut-wrenching whenever my analyst points out even the smallest detail. It causes me to do a good job, but if a therapist psycho-analyzes me, they'd probably say I have a problem.
If I was his associate, it would have been a wrap. Not letting no junior person act that way in front me or others. If this continues to happen, it will become a habit and will be difficult to turnaround long term
This was posted on the ER forum and I think entry level in ER is associate and senior is analyst
My analyst used to yell at me and publicly on the research floor so don't worry it's normal. The important thing to consider is that research's org structure is SO flat. In banking, it's the equivalent of the IBD analyst working all the time directly with the MD and when you think of it that way, it's almost expected that a stressed out superior is going to take it out on a kid who isn't experienced
On the flip side, when I was an analyst in S&T I went apeshit on a Director in a meeting with ~20 people, including a few partners (GS). After the meeting my direct bosses pulled me aside to reprimand me. I walk out of the conf room, and one of the partners grabbed my arm - he waited outside the door. I nearly crapped my pants. He said, “let’s take a walk,” so I followed. He said “regardless of whatever they just told you, you are safe. Don’t worry about it. You were completely right, and no one else had the backbone to point “it” out.” Honestly, it was a career defining moment in terms of speaking out when you see idiocy afoot.
Man ur a bad ass +1
Not really. I was just insanely stressed out and pissed off by a mediocre middle manager trying to layer more work on me from his group which made no sense (I was not in his group), and I let it go. As it was happening, I figured I might be fired. The partner pulling me over seemed like confirmation of that in the moment.
yep, mine was a nice guy. but not at midnight on a Friday...
No one has the balls to yell at me. Because my associate are women.
This thread was appropriately placed into the ER sub, but ill be damned if 90% of the people rolling through this were hoping for a good "analyst finally cracks and flips out on associate - hilarity ensues" tale.
